New Exhibit Features Portraits Of Pittsburgh Women

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A whole new generation of young women is making their mark on Pittsburgh in medicine, business, performance arts and through good works.

Now some of those faces, beautiful inside and out, have been put on canvas.

Painter Sonja Sweterlitsch’s Greenfield living room doubles as a studio with a T.V. table for a palette, surrounded by her baby daughter’s playthings.

Sweterlitsch captures portraits with nearly photographic realism.

“Some of them are friends and others were people that I wanted to meet, that I was inspired by,” Sweterlitsch said.

Over the past three years, the 35-year-old artist has applied her brush to 16 portraits, all young women of Pittsburgh, all “Beautiful Dreamers.”

Even the women she didn’t know did not refuse and showed up at her door.

Laura Miller is from the “Secret Agent L Project,” which is an international kindness movement.
